Waves

There is no better place to find yourself than the ocean.  I go to the ocean to reset my compass; to get back on track and to find myself again.  Tonight it is different.
I am consumed tonight by the sound of the waves crashing and the smell of salt air.  I walk to the beach and stand at the shore listening to the ocean waves just a few feet away.  I can feel the mist on my skin and the sand beneath my feet.  It is very late and I realize that my thoughts are not of myself tonight but of the waves on the shore.  Timeless, ageless, never-ending.  The way the waves hug the shoreline over and over again, no matter how many times it leaves, it always comes back.
Like eternal lovers the waves and shoreline know they are meant to be together through time.  Through the calm and gentle waters to the rough seas and powerful storms, the waves always come back. Nothing can stop them, not the wind or the sun or the dangers within the waters, the waves always come back.
There is nothing more beautiful than the sound the waves make when it meets the shore.  There is no greater love than the waves and shore meeting again and again.  They are never the same, always changing and yet they find each other, again and again, partners in crime.  Doing their own private dance, perfect and powerful, the waves change the shore and the shore changes the waves. Together, they change the world.
They understand that they are necessary to each other and no matter how calm or stormy the meeting, they do not judge.  They just are.  Together, over and over again.  A perfect love.
